EX-Treasurer
Welcome to my profile. I am Lamin Komma born in Dippa Kunda and raised in Latrikunda Sabijie at Piccadilly street. I am a native of Manna Village in the Central River Division, where both my parents migrated from and settled in Latrikunda. I attended St. Charles Lwanger Elementary School from 1982 to 1988 and then to Sukuta Secondary Technical School for the following four years, where I successfully completed my secondary fourth in 1992. Due to the great deal of interest I have always had in the tourism industry, immediately after my secondary school education, I got myself enrolled at the Gambia Hotel School in Kanifing, where I studied hospitality management among others, from 1993 to 1995. Shortly after the completion of my hotel school programs, I was employed at the Boucarabou hotel as chief cashier and latter became the restaurant manager until the year 2000 when I departed for the United States. While in th US, here in Minnesota , I must admit that, I was both impressed and inspired by the spirit of brotherhood and oneness that I witness among Gambians resident in Minnesota through this association. It was this positive energy which got to me so well, that I decided to be an active participant - answering the calls of the community when ever I can. This was well before I was elected treasurer of the association in Feb. 2006.
Right now I wish to take this opportunity to call on all Gambians in Minnesota to join hands to better our community. Although there is no financial pay , the sense of pride and satisfaction that one derives from serving ones community is invaluable.
